First Semester Midterm

Well, this was a real shocker to me....I got suspended from my team for one week due to my grades. STUDENT comes first in Student-Athlete, and I definetly wasnt putting that first. Due to all of my annoying pre season injuries, I have only been working hard to get back on the court; and not doing my homework.well, I have been only focusing on math because thats what i thought I was struggling in...Obviously, I should have been paying attention to my other classes. I feel horrible, but I shouldnt have a pity party for myself. This was my fault and there shouldnt be any excuses. All I can do now, is get my grades up to at least C's.

Time Management With Long Term Projects

This project taught me to not wait until the last minute to do assignments. I had to come up with whom I wanted to interview, when I was going to interview them, and just putting this whole movie together. It definetly took some time to accomplish, but I'm glad I got it done. I finally got into the swing of imovie, and it made this alot easier.
Finding time to do this project was tough though. But I fit it around my crazy scheduel and got it done.  However, now that I'm suspended for academic reasons, I have a ton of free time on my hands to get work done.

Troubleshooting

So far, I haven't had any issues with making my video. I absolutly love imovie and I want to use it more. The audio and visual effects have been great for cutting my film and making it more interesting and easier to follow.
It really shouldn't be a problem finishing this video, I think I'm off to a great start!

Video Project

Right now, my Critical Thinking Video has been going well for the most part. I interviewed people and got some really good answers to my questions. I plan on adding music and transitions to my project every chance I get. This will help to lengthen the time and make the video run smoothly. And it will also keep the interest of the people watching.

I have never used Imovie before, but so far it's been a great tool to make this video. Im learning so much with the software and hopefully I'll be able to use it in my Communications class.

Time Managment

This week, we conducted an "experiment." Which was to see how much free time we have after class and inbetween whatever else we have going on, plus 30 hours a week for studying that were supposed to be doing.

I found that after classes, lifting, conditioning, practice, napping, sleeping and studying I have about 10 hours a week left to do nothing. Which in my case now, instead of being spent on facebook(worlds biggest distraction) I will be studying, trying to improve my grades.

Stress, The College Killer

This week has been a stressful one at that. Midterm grades cam out, and not to big of a shocker, im not doing so well. To relieve my stress, I have basketball. Going into lift, monday wednesday and fridays definetly helps. Take your anger and stress out on the weights. Or even practice..going hard all the time and running. Exercising releases endorphines, endorphines make you happy :)

Happy, Healthy, and Hardworking

Getting sick is one of the worst things that can happen to you in college. I experienced first hand this semester from having my wisdom teeth pulled, that making up work is even harder when your not in class. I fell behind...BIG TIME. Im still struggling to pull up my grades from only missing 2 days. But, Im not going to complain.

If you do miss class, you should immediatly contact your professor and let them know whats going on. Then you should ask them for any missed assignments or if they will even accept late ones. Contact another student from your class and ask if there were any notes or what you happened to miss that day. People are more than happy to help. You just have to ask for it.

Steve Jobs Tells Obama....

Steve Jobs Told Obama He Is Heading for a One Term Presidency

I personally love this blog. Dont get me wrong, you have to like your President a little bit. After all, he is your leader. But when a man as smart as Steve Jobs even comes across and says that your doing a bad job, that means something. Granted you have almost the whole country counting down the days until your Presidency ends, you should learn to take advice from other people. Thats exactly what the subcontext of this blog is saying.

NBA Lockout Blog

Paul Allen and Dan Gilbert, two owners of teams within the NBA, are the leading representatives for the Budget trying to get passed through the NBA players. So far the first 2 WEEKS have been CANCELLED for the players due to the miscommunication. What it comes down to is that the players are being greedy and only want more money.

My First Week

Blogging looks COMPLICATED. But when it comes down to it, it's the most simple task you can do. It is just your thoughts and ideas written down in one place for the world to see! You just have to tinker with new things. EXPLORE. Exploring a website, or anything for that matter, helps you to become more familiar with whatever your learning.

I learned that if you want to enphazize something, use Bold. It helps readers to see what they are reading and comprehend what your trying to get across faster. No one wants to read a boring blog.

Friendly

Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.” These are my super close friends. Without them I would not have been able to make it though those crazy, long, hard, amazing four years of my life. There were struggles and obstacles that we had to overcome, but we did it. We still remain to be pretty close, even though we went our seperate ways for college.

Mistake Maker

I for one, am all bout making mistakes. If you dont make mistakes in life, you’re never going to learn. Making them, is a part of growing up and learning. You do what you have to, learn from it, and move on. There is always a lesson to be learned. I know from ALOT of experiences. It has mad me grow up and mature a little faster. But I needed it.

Outgoing

I love going out! Being with friends and most important FAMILY. Being loud and crazy is the best thing! Meeting new people, having new experiences, its all apart of life. And if your not going to put yourself out there, and your just goign to take the backseat then so be it. Have fun not living life, because I sure will have fun!(:

Team Player

“Coming together is a beginning.  Keeping together is progress.  Working together is success.”  ~Henry Ford
Working as a team is everything.  Your team becomes more than just you team, the become your family. It teaches you that everyone there has your back, as long as you have there’s. Responsibilty and leadership are also built through working together and to get past different challenges. You have to love your team! <3

The SCSU Experience

Being a Freshman in college can be…well, to say the least, terrifying. It’s just like your freshman year of highschool, only a little different. Your the little fish, swimming in the big pond. College is learning to be dependent upon yourself. It’s a new experience, being independent, not relying on your parents for everything. Thank goodness my parents didn’t shelter me. They were trying to prepare me the best they could for this, and I think they did a pretty bang up job. They allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them.

Coming into college was different for me. I already had a family..my team. They helped me get through my first few days of school, and are helping me get through all of this crazy pre season workouts. I have an actual support system. Which is why I’m happy to not be a regular student. Even though, they have the school to back them up, some came in with no friends and not a clue.  They had no choice, but to go out and make friends. Now..you maybe saying, “What’s this girls deal? Why is she comparing herself to me?” Well, sometimes I wish I was apart of the normal life…ONLY SOMETIMES. College is hard work, but as an athlete, you dont get a break in your scheduel. I want to be the best student-athlete, I want to aquire at least a 3.8 GPA this semester. It’s all about time managment..well, that’s what they told me, and they were so right! Well, here it goes…I’m here and ready SCSU(:
